A 59-year old newly wed man,Colin Taylor, had been killed in a car accident in the afternoon of Friday, October 31, 2014,while his wife, Julie sustained severe fracture injuries on her legs and arms .
The couple were said to have dated for a almost 30 years before they finally tied the knot at the town’s golf club barely two months ago precisely on September 5, 2014.
Until his death, Taylor had worked as a staff at the Post Office, and as a bar manager before setting up his own joinery and plumbing business in Stonehaven where he had lived almost all his life.
On the other hand, Julie is a manager in Aberdeen with Penumbra, who help people with mental health issues.
On Friday, the couple’s blue Citroen Picasso collided with a black Audi A6 on the A933 on the outskirts of Arbroath, Daily record reports.
The tragic incident was said to have happened around 3.15pm near Leysmill junction between the Audi headed towards and the couple going towards South.
It was learnt that Taylor was confirmed dead at the scene, while his wife who had always sat in the back seat due to car phobia was “cut free from the wreckage of their car by firefighters” having worn her seat belt.
She was immediately rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, with an ambulance under police escort where she the medical officials conducted a 10-hour surgery on her on Saturday, November 1, 2014.
Also, the driver of the Audi who was believed to have sustained lesser injuries was also taken to Ninewells for proper medical care.
It was gathered that the road was blocked for almost six hours in order to allow crash investigators, using floodlights, to examine the scene properly.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division, Sergeant Malcolm Harvey who confirmed the incident said one man had died and two others seriously injured in the tragic road mishap.
He said, “Local police officers were first to the scene on being made aware of the collision.
“It was immediately apparent we were dealing with a very serious incident.
“Tragically, I can confirm that one man has died and there are two other people injured.
“The fire and rescue service worked swiftly to remove those casualties from the vehicles.”
In order to aid proper investigation into the incident, the police spokeswoman made an appeal for useful information from the witnesses to the tragic crash.
He said, “We took the opportunity to speak with the drivers of others vehicles that were in the area at the time.
“The information they have given us will prove useful to our inquiries.”
