Hauwa Shekarau, the chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has passed away.
The Chevening alumnus died on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, after a brief illness.

Prince Adetosoye, the branch secretary, made the announcement in a notice.
“It is with a sad heart and the highest sense of loss that I announce the death of our chairman,” he said.
The scribe promised to provide further details on burial plans in due course.
Shekarau was a gender advocate, human rights activist, a professional mediator, and a conciliator.
She had over 25 years post-call experience in women and child rights policy and advocacy, conflict resolution, social research, sexual and reproductive health, and rights.
Shekarau graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, and was the National President of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria) between 2012 and 2015.
The deceased served as a board member of ActionAid International Nigeria and Nigeria Women Trust Fund, League for Human Rights, El-Shaddai Widows Outreach, among others.
