Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have commenced impeachment proceedings against the governor of the state, Umaru Al-Makura, Daily Times reports.
The House on Monday, July 14, 2014 directed its clerk, Ego Maikeffi to serve Al-Makura the notice, citing gross misconduct and financial misappropriation of funds, with the notice subsequently signed by 20 out of the states 24 lawmakers.
The sitting which was presided over by speaker, Ahmed Mohammed, in a 16-count charge accused governor of extra-budgetary expenses.
