The Katsina state office of National Agency For Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed drugs worth twenty million naira.
The latest destruction is coming barely twenty four hours after the Kaduna/Katsina Command of Nigeria Customs Service in collaboration with NAFDAC destroyed seized drugs worth over two hundred and fourty seven million naira.
NAFDAC Director General, Paul Orhii said the destruction was part of the agency’s mandate to regulate and control the manufacture, importation, exportation and distribution of drugs and other items.
Orhii who was represented by the North West Zonal Cordinator of the Agency , Dr Eric Iful said the drugs destroyed included fake and counterfeit, expired, substandard and unwholesome drugs and other related products seized during the Agency’s surveillance activities.
He said part of the drugs were those handed over to the Agency by the authorities of Federal Medical Centre, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the Nigeria Customs Service.
He stressed that despite the challenges of the fight against fake and counterfeit drugs, the agency was winning the war.
