The country has been shaken by the kidnapping of an elder statesman and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olu Falae.
Last week some of his suspected kidnappers were paraded by the Department of State Services (DSS) ), with the suspects claiming that they carried out the act in order to raise money for sallah and wedding celebations.

Falae has however come out to rebuff the claims of them being after money, stating that they had planned on killing him.
Speaking on Saturday, October 17, 2015 when he hosted a delegation of O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC) members led by their leader Gani Adams, Falae said, “They were not after money alone; they wanted to eliminate me by shooting my car, thinking I was inside the car. They later walked into my office with their sharp knives and cutlasses and matcheted my body before taken me into the bush.
“We trekked from Akure to Owo, following bush paths and swampy areas on my bare legs till we got to an area close to Ifon in Ose local government.”
He went on to recount that his ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers was a blessing in disguise as he wants Yoruba people liberated from Fulani herdsmen’s attacks.
