President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday, March 1, 2015 said he very soon, the presidential motorcade will be filled with vehicles made in Nigeria, as a glowing example of the confidence he has in the growing automobile industry under his administration.
He made the remark while answering questions from a member of the audience at the #MeetThePresident event convened by the Participate, Vote, Country (PVC) group a the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
President Jonathan recalled that when he was Deputy governor in his native Bayelsa State, his official car was a Peugeot car, attributing the switch to more expensive and armoured cars to the security situation in the country.
He pledged that in a coming months, when Nigeria’s automobile industry becomes matured, every car in his convoy would be locally made, with his remarks greeted with resounding applause by the gathering.
