Muhammad Sanusi ll, the just deposed Emir of Kano, on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, disclosed that he will challenge his alleged detention and banishment to Awe in Nasarawa State following his dethronement by the Kano State Government.
Sanusi disclosed this through his lawyer, Abubakar Mahoud during a media conference in Kano on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
The former monarch stated that his banishment and confinement to Nasarawa State after his dethronement runs afoul of his fundamental human rights as enshrined in Nigeria’s constitution.
Mahoud described the Sanusi’s banishment as archaic and unknown to the Nigerian constitution.
According to Mahoud, the Kano government declined the deposed monarch’s request to relocate to Lagos State with his family.
