Nigerian Army Sentences 4 Soldiers To Death Over Mutiny

The Nigerian General Military Court Martial which was set up to investigate soldiers of the 111 Special Forces Battalion, Maiduguri have found another four soldiers guilty of mutiny and accordingly sentenced them to death by firing squad, Punch reports.

President of the Court, Brig.- Gen Musa Yusuf, it was gathered, sentenced the renegade quartet to death on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. This comes after 54 of the 59 soldiers tried were earlier sentenced to death for conspiring to commit mutiny on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. The other five were said to be innocent and subsequently discharged and acquitted.

With the addition of 12 soldiers found guilty of mutiny on Sunday, September 14, 2014, this will bring the number of soldiers convicted and sentenced to death for mutiny to 70.
