Former Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson has weighed in on Jose Mourinho’s seven minute rant after his Chelsea side lost to Southampton.
The Old Trafford legend believes it was Mourinho’s way of asking the club owner, Roman Abramovich to support him at a bad moment. Ferguson is of the opinion that the Portuguese manager has got the support of the Chelsea owner.
“I think Jose’s press conference was challenging the owner to support him in a bad time.
“I don’t think it’s correct what Jose’s thinking at the moment — I think he’s got the support,” Sir Ferguson explained.
He also hinted that Mourinho and Chelsea will bounce back while offering him sympathy over the loss of key players to injury and poor form.
“He will find a solution. You’ve got to remember he’s lost his goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who’s fantastic. John Terry is in a little difficulty adjusting to his last season maybe.
“So if the span of your team is not what it normally is, do you expect to get consistent results? I don’t think so,” the 73-year-old stated.
Chelsea faces Aston Villa, West Ham and Stoke City in their next premier league fixtures.
