Mourinho Set To Ban First Team Doctor, Eva Carneiro From Chelsea Bench

Must read

It appears Chelsea’s first team doctor, Eva Carneiro has enjoyed her last time on the Blues bench.

The 41-year-old British doctor was scolded during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Swansea last weekend by manager, Jose Mourinho.

The Chelsea manager felt she came on to the field too early when Eden Hazard went to the ground. Mourinho claims Hazard was only tired and didn’t need medical attention at that time.

Reports have it that Carneiro will remain Chelsea’s first-team doctor but will not longer attend training sessions, games or even enter the team’s hotel. She is not expected to be on the bench for Sunday’s trip to Manchester City.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea’s draw on Saturday, an upset Mourinho said:

“I was not happy with my medical staff. Even if you are a kit man, doctor or secretary on the bench you have to understand the game.”

‘You have to know you have one player less and when you go to the pitch to assist a player you have to make sure your player has a serious injury.

‘I was sure he hadn’t a serious problem. He had a knock, he was very tired. But my medical department – on an impulse – was naive and left me with eight outfield players in a counter attack after a set piece.”
