Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba was seated between Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich and interim manager, Guus Hiddink in the directors box when the Blues thrashed Sunderland 3-1 on Saturday, December 19, 2015.
That scenario immediately sparked up rumors about the return of the Ivorian to Stamford Bridge as an assistant to Guus Hiddink.
The Canadian club to which Drogba is contracted, Montreal Impact has now confirmed through series of tweets that Chelsea is in talks with the Ivorian. The MLS side understands Drogba’s desire to help his former side but will try to keep him. They however made it clear to their fans that the situation is out of their control.
Below are the tweets:
We are currently in contact with Didier Drogba and Chelsea FC. We are doing everything we can to have him back with the Impact in 2016.#IMFC
