The two girls were rushed to a hospital in the Chilean capital of Santiago while their mum was taken to a different one to receive medical care.
It was learnt that doctors battled to save the lives of the victims although the older of the two children is reportedly lying critically ill in the hospital..
A psychologist who spoke to the mum testified that she was suffering from severe depression based on the fact that her husband had left her, had never paid a penny of child support, and had refused to help in looking after the children, Daily Star reports.
The woman said, “I just couldn’t face going on and couldn’t see a way out.
“But I should never have done this. I’m a monster.”
