ABUJA, Nigeria – A shocking incident unfolded in Orozo, a community bordering Abuja and Nasarawa State, as gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi was apprehended during a church service with a sack containing the severed head of his girlfriend.
Ajayi, a fitness enthusiast and gospel artist, was detained by church members on Sunday morning near a river close to the church.
The incident, described by witnesses as horrifying, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Suspicious Movement Raises Alarm
The unravelling began during the final prayers of the Sunday service at the church when a congregant, Brother Victor, noticed Ajayi behaving suspiciously near the river.
According to Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study Teacher, Ajayi was seen carrying a black nylon bag, which he later attempted to discard in the river.
Victor and another church member, Brother Amos, confronted Ajayi, but he initially denied carrying anything suspicious.
Shortly afterward, two motorcyclists arrived, seeking a man matching Ajayi’s description.
When Ajayi realised he was being pursued, he attempted to flee but was apprehended by church members after a struggle.

Gruesome Discovery
Upon interrogation, Ajayi admitted the sack contained the head of his girlfriend.
He claimed the couple had been in a romantic relationship for over a year and that an argument had escalated when he discovered she was chatting with another man.
Ajayi alleged that his girlfriend attacked him with a knife, injuring his hand, and that he accidentally stabbed her fatally during the altercation.
He further confessed to dismembering her body to facilitate its disposal and said the head was meant for delivery to a woman who instructed him to bring it.
The sack was opened, and inside was the severed head of the victim, a young woman identified as having recently braided her hair in a “million braids” style.

Community Outrage and Police Involvement
The incident caused pandemonium in the church, with worshippers raising an alarm.
The mob severely beat Ajayi before being handed over to the police.
The FCT Police Command spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, clarified that the crime occurred in Nasarawa State, not Abuja.
“To clarify, the incident did not occur in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) but in Nasarawa State. We urge accuracy in reporting such incidents for better public understanding,” Adeh said.
A Troubled Past
Sources revealed that the victim, whose father passed away in June, had been in a relationship with Ajayi with hopes of marriage.
Ajayi, originally from Kabba in Kogi State, was well-known as a gospel singer and fitness advocate.
A video circulating on social media shows Ajayi seated on the ground, being questioned by onlookers.
In the footage, he attempts to explain the events leading to the victim’s death, claiming the incident was unintentional.
