MERSEYSIDE, England – Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at Anfield beyond the 2024-25 season.
The 32-year-old Egyptian international has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success since joining from AS Roma in 2017, and his new deal is a significant boost for the club.
Salah has continued to excel this season, netting 32 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.
With 27 of those goals coming in the Premier League, he is currently the division’s top scorer, while also providing 22 assists for his teammates.
Reflecting on his decision to extend his contract, Salah expressed his excitement at the opportunity to continue his journey with the Merseyside club.
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football,” Salah told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I’ve had my best years here. I’ve played for eight years, and hopefully, it’s going to be 10. I’ve enjoyed my life here, enjoyed my football. I had the best years of my career,” he added.
This new contract is also a significant boost for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who will be hoping to build on Salah’s contributions as the club targets further success in domestic and international competitions.
Salah has become one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players, currently sitting third on the club’s all-time top scorer list with 243 goals in 394 appearances.
During his time at Anfield, he has helped Liverpool secure seven major trophies, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
His personal accolades are equally impressive, with Salah having won the Premier League Golden Boot three times, the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award twice, and the FWA Footballer of the Year award twice.
Salah also took a moment to thank the fans for their continued support, saying, “I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us, and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully, in the future, we’re going to win more trophies.”
