Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State who is currently the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum has stated that the PDP has begun its re-branding process in a bid to take over power from the APC.

Governor Mimiko made this assertion at the Akure Airport on Friday, June 19, 2015 during a mini-reception arranged in honour of his return from Abuja, where he was voted as the new PDP governors’ chairman.

He explained that the PDP has set plans in motion to take over power from the All Progressives Congress during the 2019 General Elections.

He disclosed that the governors will ensure that the PDP re-brands with a new face  as the opposition party and to offer an alternative policy for the good of the country.

“We must sustain enthusiasm in our party; and as governors who have pivotal roles to play in re-branding our party, we must show in governance term the difference between us and the APC and these are the challenges ahead of us.

“As opposition party, our engagement will be robust; we must offer alternative polict platform and programme when we criticise one.

“We must show Nigerians that we are a different party.

“We will not be abusive in opposing the government and we will praise where it is worthy of praise and criticise in a very robust manner,” Mimiko stated.
