Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has described as shocking the deaths on Wednesday, of the secretary to the board of trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ojo Maduekwe and literary icon, playwright and novelist, Captain Elechi Amadi.
In his condolence message signed by the Ondo State commissioner for information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, Dr. Mimiko said Chief Ojo Maduekwe, who was 71 when he passed away, was a man of peace who was goal-oriented.

Governor Mimiko, who also the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum extolled Ojo Maduekwe saying he “represented everything good, noble, and a good example of a team player”
“The death of Chief Ojo Maduekwe at this time when he is more needed by the PDP,” Mimiko said as he offered condolence to the family of the former minister of foreign affairs.
Mimiko also extolled Captain Elechi Amadi as a force in the literary field. He said Amadi would be missed sorely, especially by the many lives he was able to touch and influence through his writings.
Mimiko said the departed men manifested richness in wisdom and related with all in love. He prayed that God grant them eternal rest and give their families, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the losses.
