Presumptive US Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump formally introduced Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
“Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is my first choice. I also admire the fact that he fights for the people and he also is going to fight for you. He is a solid, solid person,” Trump said at a campaign event in Manhattan, New York.
According to CNN’s sources, Trump had “a dramatic night of soul-searching on whether he had settled on the right man,” prior to this announcement.
Donald Trump has announced Mike Pence as his vice presidential running mate on social media website, Twitter on Friday.
Pence said he accepted the invitation to be Trump’s running mate and endorsed the “billionaire business mogul whose success in the presidential race, so far, is a surprise to many.
“Donald Trump is a good man and he will make a great president of the United States of America,” Mike Pence said at the event.
Trump followed up the event with a tweet of combined Trump-Pence family photo.
