A 22-year-old mentally deranged woman known as Hassana, on Sunday, January 17, 2016 gave birth to a bouncing baby boy at Kaduna Central Market.
The woman who had wandered the market for a long time reportedly had her baby in front of a bank adjacent the Kaduna State Media Corporation, KSMC.
Several observers surrounded the woman during the process but some women formed a circle around her, while one of them helped her deliver the baby.
A trader said: “She moves in tattered clothes, scavenging for food around this market.
“Now, someone has impregnated her and God has helped her to get a fine baby boy. Many people are looking for this blessing, but he chose to give it to a woman who is not even in her senses. And the father seems not to exist.”
According to Vanguard, a journalist with Deutsche Welles, DW, Ibrahima Yakubu, who was at the market at the time quickly offered some money with which the woman and her baby were taken to the Yusuf Danstoho Memorial Hospital, Tudun Wada, Kaduna, for proper medical assistance.
Yukubu subsequently contacted the Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani, who made some donations to both mother and child and also paid the hospital bills.
Some other persons were said to have also made some donations ranging from diapers to bottles of Olive oil, baby cloths, underwear, assorted baby foods and milks.
