Zamfara Residents Do Not Pay Taxes – State Gov’t

The Zamfara State government says it is targeting over N2 billion naira at the end of December 2021, disclosing that many avenues have been designed to meet the target.

Kkilu Mohammed Dama, the executive chairman, Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, who made the revelation said the state has not been able to meet its target as of 30th of October 2021 due to security and other challenges in the state.

Dama also lamented that many people in Zamfara do not pay taxes and do not even know when and how and where to pay their taxes.

He, however, said the state revenue service is now hopeful to realise the said target through a partnership with over 300 cattle dealers, 147 private schools in the state.

“We hope to raise money from the health, education and other sectors in the state”

The Executive Chairman said the state revenue service would have met the two billion naira target but for the security challenges ravaging the entire state.
