Most people will try to catch 40 winks on a plane journey – but Bruce Campbell gets to do it every night.
The former electrical engineer Bruce Campbell has been living in a Boeing 727 since 1999 when he decided to “save” it from the scrapheap.
Complete with wings, cockpit and landing gears, Bruce spends six months of the year in his aeronautical home sleeping on a futon.
Bruce, 64, from Portland, Oregon, bought the plane after hearing how a Mississippi hairdresser had done it and despite spending £130,000 making it habitable he now plans to upgrade – to a giant Boeing 747.
Despite the modifications undertaken one thing that has not changed on board is the dreaded food, with Bruce admitting he cooks with a microwave or toaster and east mostly canned food and cereal.
Bruce said: “‘I think most people are nerds in their hearts in some measure. The point is to have fun.”
