NAN – A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Friday sentenced one Adeniyi Taofic, a mechanic, to four years imprisonment for stealing a car.
Taofic was convicted after pleading guilty to the charge, and appealed for mercy.
The Senior Magistrate, Shuaibu Ahmed, however, remanded one Kudu Ibrahim and Joseph
Femi, who were docked with Taofic, after they denied committing the offence.
Ibrahim and Feme were remanded in prison custody pending further investigations.
The magistrate did not give the convict an option of fine, because according to him, the convict has criminal records with the Police.
The prosecutor, John Ijagbemi of Legal Department of Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory, had told the court that one Abraham Anunobi reported the matter at Wuse Police Station on Oct. 27.
He said that the convict conspired with the two others and stole a Toyota Corolla 2005 model, with registration number FD 354 ABC, belonging to the complainant.
Ijagbemi said that the complainant was at the National Hospital chapel for a programme when the convict and his accomplices fabricated a master car key and stole the car.
He said that the vehicle was found a week later on the way to Jos when they were taking it to Jos, Plateau.
Ahmed adjourned the case till Nov. 27.
