Four masquerades had interrupted a church service after they stormed a a Christ Apostolic Church and flogged the pastors and members in Epinmi Akoko area of Ondo state.
Police officials were able to arrest one of the masquerades, Tunde Arohunmolase, while others took to their heels.
Two of the pastors reportedly sustained injures by the time the masquerades left the church premises.
Some of the church workers who tried to stop the masquerades from entering the premises were reportedly overpowered by the masquerades who went straight for their target.
Vanguard reported that while other worshipers fled leaving the Pastors, their attackers reportedly had a field day flogging them.
The matter was later reported at the police station and one of the suspects was apprehended.
An investigation has been launched into the matter to decipher the reason for the attack unleashed on the church by the masqueraders during the service.
The police spokesperson, Wole Ogodo, confirmed that two Pastors identified as Jacob Ogunmola and Kehinde Ilori respectively, were injured during the attack and have been treated.
He stated that the arrested suspect is still in their custody and has made useful statement, adding that efforts are being made to arrest the fleeing masquerades.
