A marred woman was caught having sex with an unmarried man, and the duo were convicted with 100 strokes of cane which was done publicly.
The incident happened in the western province of Ghor, Afghanistan, and some observers made good use of their mobile devices to record it.
One of the eyewitnesses shared the video which shows the woman wrapped in a black burqa and a man obediently sitting in a squatting position, while he was lashed with a leather whip.
According to Mail Online, the sentencing was backed by the government in Ghor province, where the trial took place.
A spokesman for governor, Seema Jowenda said: “They had relations a long time ago but were arrested early this month. Their punishment is based on Sharia law and will teach others a lesson.”
Zinā is an Islamic law concerning unlawful sexual relations between Muslims who are not married to one another through a Nikah. It includes extramarital sex and premarital sex, such as adultery, fornication, and homosexuality.
