PALO ALTO, USA – Mark Zuckerberg, the once-reclusive founder of Facebook and CEO of Meta, has undergone a striking personal and professional transformation since 2020, propelled by advice from PayPal co-founder and conservative figure Peter Thiel.
In a recently revealed email exchange, Thiel suggested that Zuckerberg reshape his public image, which led to a dramatic shift in how Zuckerberg presents himself — both physically and ideologically.
In the email correspondence, Thiel urged Zuckerberg to rebrand himself as a representative of the millennial generation rather than conforming to a “Baby Boomer construct” of what a successful millennial should look like.
In response, Zuckerberg boldly declared, “I’m the most well-known person of my generation.”
This statement, though ambitious, reflected Zuckerberg’s position in the global spotlight, rivalling celebrities like Taylor Swift, athletes like Lionel Messi, and even political figures such as Kim Jong-Un.
While it’s debatable whether Zuckerberg is the most famous individual of his generation, he is undoubtedly among the wealthiest, having recently crossed the $200 billion mark according to Forbes.

A Radical Personal Overhaul
Thiel’s advice appears to have sparked a radical transformation in Zuckerberg’s lifestyle and appearance.
Gone are the jeans, simple T-shirts, and hoodies that once defined his casual tech-billionaire style.
Instead, Zuckerberg now sports a more muscular physique and designer attire, including $150,000 luxury watches and T-shirts emblazoned with philosophical quotes.
In September 2024, Zuckerberg recorded a podcast wearing a T-shirt with the Greek phrase “pathei mathos,” meaning “learning through suffering.”
At Meta’s annual conference, he donned another shirt bearing the Latin phrase “aut Zuck aut nihil,” which translates to “all Zuck or all nothing.”
These sartorial choices have marked a departure from his once minimalistic fashion and signaled a desire to project a more refined, perhaps intellectually sophisticated, image.
His personal reinvention extends beyond fashion and fitness. Zuckerberg has become a mixed-martial arts competitor, frequently attending UFC events and even greeting fighters backstage.
His newly found interest in physical combat symbolizes a shift toward a more assertive and dynamic persona.
A Shift in Political Alliances
Zuckerberg’s makeover has not been limited to aesthetics; his political affiliations have also shifted noticeably.
Once a vocal supporter of Democratic causes, even appearing alongside President Barack Obama and donating heavily to social justice initiatives, Zuckerberg has since taken a more libertarian stance.
He has reportedly maintained a close relationship with former President Donald Trump, whom he praised for his “bad-ass” fist-pump after an assassination attempt.
Moreover, Zuckerberg’s platform Meta has rolled back restrictions on political speech, including lifting bans on political figures like Trump, whose accounts were previously suspended following the January 6 Capitol riots.
Zuckerberg has also committed to staying out of the 2024 election, a departure from his involvement in earlier political cycles, including his financial support for elections during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The New Face of Zuckerberg
Zuckerberg’s transformation, both personal and political, illustrates a broader reinvention of his public persona as he navigates the complexities of leading Meta and remaining relevant in an increasingly polarized political landscape.
Whether this new version of Zuckerberg will resonate with the millennial generation, as Thiel suggested, remains to be seen, but his bold shift certainly reflects a deliberate effort to redefine his place in the tech and political arenas.
For now, Zuckerberg’s reinvention continues to unfold, with each public appearance and statement marking another step in his evolution from Silicon Valley innovator to one of the most recognizable — and controversial — figures of his generation.
