Tragedy struck on Thursday, October 15, 2015 along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway as an 18-seater commercial bus plunged into Arun River located in Ogun State.
The number of casualties recorded from the incident is yet unclear as at the time of filing the report.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the Public Information Officer of the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye said: “NEMA, in strong partnership with the Ogun State Government, Ijebu East Local Government Council, the Federal Road Safety Commission and the police have mobilised local volunteers and divers to begin recovery of the victims.”
However, some local volunteers who were deployed by the police immediately swung into rescue operations at the scene trying to recover the bodies of the victims and save some of the occupants of the bus which was sad to be filled with passengers.
