A 43-year-old man, Edeh Godwin, has urged an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve his 16-year-old marriage to his wife, Ebere for alleged threats to life, frequent fighting and destruction of property.
Godwin, a resident of No. 3, Eyinodi Market, Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, told the court on Thursday, October 22, 2015 that there was a day, he came back from work and met his two wives fighting.
He said while trying to separate both of them, Ebere brought a plank and hit it on his head.
The father of three said that there was another day, he came back from work and Ebere hit him with spanner at his back.
The petitioner alleged that his apprentice told him that Ebere came to his shop and ask him to take her to where to get acid.
He claimed that she was fond of saying “peace will not reign in their house until both of them dies, adding that this led him to marry another wife.
Godwin said Ebere destroyed the keys to his iron door which affected the security of his house.
He told the court that Ebere packed out of the house with their three children without his knowledge.
He, therefore, prayed the court to award him the custody of his first son Obinna, 17, while Marvelous, two, and Goodnews, two months, should be with Ebere.
The respondent was absent in court.
The President of the court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, adjourned the petition till Thursday, November 19, 2015 for judgment.
