The burial ceremony of one Chinyere Mbam, from Enyi Igwe Village, Ezzainyimagu community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has been postponed pending on when her ‘husband’, Stephen Mbam, who she lived with prior to her death, performs her marriage rites.
A report by The Nation, said the deceased’s uncle, Ishiali Ikwe, confirmed she was dead after she was taken to a traditional healing home in the area for treatment from snake bite she sustained while returning from the wake-keep of her friend, Oge Ogashi.
The deceased had a child for Mr. Mbam who she lived with for three years even though he had not married her legally.
According to Ikwe, the decision was in line with the tradition, and a date had already been fixed for payment of the bride price which would be followed by the wedding ceremony.
