A 22-year old man, Christian Ferdinand is currently being tried for allegedly killing his 14-year old girlfriend, Shaniesha Forbes after she had informed him of her pregnancy and unwillingness to abort the pregnancy, stating that her other was religious and would not support the abortion, Christian News reports.
Forbes was said to have been killed at the residence of Ferdinand’s cousin when she brought up the issue of keeping the pregnancy. Ferdinand reportedly suffocated her by holding a leather pillow over her face. He then tried to hide the killing by stuffing her corpse into a suitcase, burning it and dumping it in Gerrittson Beach.
The suitcase didn’t stay underwater for long as it was washed up on shore a few days later, after which Ferdinand was arrested in Maine, where he had sought refuge.
A New York Jury found Ferdinand guilty of second degree murder and tampering with evidence. He will be sentenced on Wednesday, January 7, 2014 and faces up to 25 years prison time.
A medical examiner has also availed Forbes was reportedly carrying no pregnancy.
