A middle-aged man simply identified as Bolaji has been shot dead in a relaxation spot during a violent clash between two suspected rival cult groups in Ijoka Street of Ondo town, Ondo State.
Sources who live in the area of the clash disclosed that the deceased belonged to a cult group known as “Eiye cult group” and had been previously involved in the different clashes in the town before his death on Monday, February 2, 2015.
According to Punch, security had been strengthened in the town to forestall an anticipated reprisal attack.
While confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer at the Enuowa Police Station, Mr. Kunle Omisakin, said that no culprit has been yet arrested in connection with the crime although they were making efforts to nab and bring the culprits to book.
He said, “Efforts have been stepped up to rid the community of cult activities.”
