An extremely distraught widower who couldn’t afford to miss his deceased wife has simply preserved her corpse in a freezer at his home where he spoke to it on daily basis.
53-year-old Jiang Maode has kept the body of his late wife, Yang Huiging, for five months.
Efforts to get the body cremated were vehemently refused by the middle aged man who insisted that he would keep the body with him as long as he lives.
Police officials in Deyang City in south-west China’s Sichuan Province have launched an investigation into the bisarre action as dead bodies can only be kept for five days.
Maode claims that before his wife died, he promised her that he would keep her at home and she was highly elated with the news.
Maode said that he talks to her for an hour every evening, and tells her what happened throughout the day, World Wide Weird News reports.

visited the home of 53-year-old Jiang Maode after locals informed them that he had been keeping his dead wifes body in the refrigerated coffin for five months.
Maodes wife of 34 years, Yang Huiqing, had been deep frozen after she succumbed to leukaemia at the end of last year. He had been unable to severe his strong emotional ties with her even after death, often laying flowers by her freezer coffin and talking to her every day.
Maodes 32-year-old son Jiang Maochun said: “My father lights at least three sticks of incense a day by her coffin, and before going to bed, he always talks to my mothers spirit.”
Maode said he had made a promise to his wife to keep her by his side, even after her death, as the two were inseparable every since they first met over three decades ago.
He said: “It was love at first sight and it never faded. She didnt want to leave me. I didnt want to leave her. I promised her I would keep her in our home after she passed away she was happy to hear that.”
Maode added: “As long as Im home, there is always incense burning. When I come home from work, I speak to her for over an hour, telling her what I saw or heard that day.”
Maochun said he had wanted to cremate his mothers body and keep the ashes at home but his father had rejected the idea.
Authorities however have said that what Maode is doing is considered illegal by Sichuan Province laws, however, and will now have to make alternative arrangements for his wife’s body.
An official said: “The law states quite clearly that the body of a naturally deceased individual can be kept for traditional reasons for no longer than five days.”
