Contrary to reports that a man, identified as Rasaki Adebayo was caught on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, with an explosive device in Awo Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University, the Osun state Police command has come out to say that the reports are wrong.
According to information made available to Premium Times, Osun state Police public relations officer, Folashade Odoro affirmed that “It is true a man was arrested but he was found with a gallon of kerosene- not petrol mixed with chemical as reported – and stove which he says he wants to use and cook. No IED was found on him.”
Mrs Odoro added that Rasaki Adebayo was still in police custody and it could not affirmed when he would be released.
In a related news, Osun police have also siad that the recent blast in Ile-Ife was not bomb but was as a result of fireworks.
