A man known as Mundiu in his 30’s committed suicide on Friday, September 19, 2014 in Ayede – Ekiti, Oye Local Government of Ekiti state after two failed attempts in three years.
The earlier said he was trying to take his life out of frustration. His body was discovered by one of his neighbours, a deaf man named Taiwo who alerted people by pointing to the scene of the act.
A Sun News report revealed that a day before the sad event, Mundiu told his neighbours that they would be witnessing a drama the next day but little did they know he had intentions of ending his own life.
One of his neighbours said Mundiu always complained about the unfairness of life towards him and how he was living in poverty.
According to him, he had a motorcycle accident two months earlier which almost claimed his life. They took him for treatment outside Ayede-Ekiti and two weeks ago, they got news of his death only for him to resurface in the community three days ago.
In addition, another neighbour said it was Mundiu’s late father that saved him from the first suicide attempt and that he kept the rope as a memorial. The second trial was when he jumped into the river in Lokoja where he was actually rescued.
Unfortunately, the third attempt couldn’t be averted as there was no one to monitor his movement and stop him from hanging himself.
