A man has reportedly passed out and died due to alcohol poisoning during an alcohol drinking contest.
The organizers of the competition in Henan, China were ordered to pay restitution of more than $70,000 for the man’s death.
The deceased identified as Wang Qiang participated in the contest with a friend and they both confessed to have felt weird after the drinking competition.
Unfortunately, Qiang could not survive the attack even though his partner regained consciousness after medical attention.
According to
World Wide News, Qiang’s family filed a lawsuit against the organizers of the event – the Henan Alcohol Association, the Henan Alcohol Association Luoyang Office and Luoyang Siyue Trade Co. Ltd. – for their active role in the death of Qiang.
The district court ruled that the organizers should pay 447,642 yuan ($72,100) to the family in compensation for the man’s death which was attributed to alcohol poisoning.
