Ibrahim Haruna, a 35-year-old father of two, last Friday, committed suicide at his residence in Byazhin area of Kubwa in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

Residents told City & Crime that until his death, the deceased owned a Point of Sale, POS, business in the area.

It was gathered that he borrowed the sum of N520,000 from friends to scale up his business.

The deceased’s younger brother, Isah, told Daily Trust that things were not going well for his brother and that he was certain the debt was responsible for his brother drinking the otapiapia.

Isah said, “My brother once jokingly told me that he would kill himself because of the pressure he was getting from people to return their money, but I always told him everything would be okay.”

Speaking to Daily Post, one of the residents, Yinka Ogunleye, expressed shock at the news, saying, “He called many friends earlier on that day informing them that he was embarking on a very far journey?

“He even visited various joints in the area before heading home to take the otapiapia.”

A health worker at the Kubwa General Hospital, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident, adding that his remains had been taken to the morgue.
