A heavily pregnant woman was sent to her early grave by her boyfriend who burnt her alive because he was not ready to be a father yet.
The 20-year-old man, Eren Toben, and his friend, Daniel Mueller, 20, connived and lured the deceased 19-year-old Maria Peiner, into a wood on the outskirts of Berlin in the guise that they wanted to shop for baby items.
On getting to the woods, Toben hit the 8-month-old pregnant woman with a piece of wood, stabbed her with a bread knife and then poured petrol over her and set her ablaze in January 2015, according to Mirror UK.
The duo, who both remained silent during the trial were sentenced to serve a 14-year jail term each for committing the gruesome murder in Germany.
The judge, Jud Regina Alex said: “For him the crime was a solution, he wanted a free, happy life which he had control over.
“He abused Maria’s love for him to lure her into an ambush.
“She was still conscious, it could have been 10, 20, 30 seconds – she was still moving.”
The body was found by a walker the next day and the pair responsible for her death were soon in custody and blaming each other.
But Toben’s fingerprints were on the handle of the knife found near charred remains of his girlfriend.
Of his accomplice the judge said: “He acted for the sole purpose of taking pleasure in the destruction of another human being’s life.”
Speaking after the trial, a brother to the deceased, said; “I hope that our family can finally have some peace.”
