A 35-year-old businessman identified as Arinze Nnachi, has been arraigned by the police for allegedly robbing a sex worker, Patience Sunday in a hotel on Borno Way, Ebute Meta, Lagos State.

It was gathered that the duo reached an agreement on May 19,2015 that he would pay a sum of N5,500 for a night.

The aggrieved prostitute told police detectives that the suspect paid her N2,000 instead of the agreed sum which eventually led to a disagreement that further escalated to the suspect allegedly beating up Sunday.

He was also alleged to have stolen her handset, estimated at N45,000.

Nnachi was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 on two counts of assault and stealing, but he pleaded not guilty.

The charges read in part, “That you, Arize Nnachi, on May 19, 2015, at about 4am on Borno Way, Ebute Meta, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault one Patience Sunday by beating her up and hitting her with blows….”

According to Punch, the police prosecutor, Inspector Asu Feddy, said the offences were punishable under sections 172 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

He was later admitted on bail in the sum of N20, 000 BY the magistrate, E.O. Ogunkanmi.
