A man identified as Obanla Wasiu was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps for making a forged appointment letter into the corps.
The charge reads:
“That you, Obanla Wasiu, on July 15, 2014, around 6am, at Ona Egboa, Ilaro, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, Ogun State, did commit felony to wit; making a forged Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ appointment letter, knowing it to be false and with the intention that it may be used and acted upon as genuine in Nigeria, thereby commiting felony contrary to, and punishable under Section 1(2)(c) of the Miscellaneous Offence Act, Cap M17 Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”
Waisu pled guilty to the said crime after appearing before the chief judge, Justice Okon Abang without a lawyer.
Following his admission of the crime, his prosecutor, Mr. Uche Okata, asked the court to set a date where an investigating officer would provide evidence against him. Okata also demanded that Wasiu be remanded in custody.
The case was adjourned by the presiding judge till August 25, 2014 who also ordered the defendant to be kept at the Ikoyi Prison till then.
