A male septuagenarian who resides in Ezi-Nkelu-Ezi in Ogwuma Edda in Afikpo south local government area of Ebonyi state has allegedly raped a 6-year-old girl over the weekend.
The suspect is identified as Oji Nnachi while the victim’s name was given as Uchechi Uduma who live in the same area as Nnachi.
The father to the victim, Nnachi Ndukwe was dumbfounded at the ugly incident and blamed the woes on his estranged wife, Ogechi who left him and remarried oblivious of their daughter’s well being.
He said, “I blame my wife for this ugly episode in my family; she left me over 9 years ago and remarried another man.
“Assuming my wife did not leave me to start living a care-free life with another man, my daughter wouldn’t have fallen into the hands of this old rapist”
Vanguard reports that Ndukwe accused the septuagenarian of being in the attitude of raping young girls in the community and called on the police to ensure that the suspect was arrested and prosecuted in line with laws of the land.
A source from the victim’s family disclosed that the girl was discovered with blood stains around her vagina which could have possibly been as a result of forceful penetration by septuagenarian.
On inquiry, concerned residents of the locality found out that the man was responsible for the dastardly act.
The state police spokesperson, ASP Chris Anyanwu said the command was yet to receive a report regarding the incident.
He added that anyone arrested in connection with the crime would be definitely brought to book after due investigations must have proven his or her guilt.
