The Taraba State Police Command, Jalingo, had arrested a 59-year-old man, Ferdinand Duwanamu, for allegedly raping two sisters aged 3 and 5.
This disclosure was made by the state Commissioner of Police, Ademola Omole, during a press meeting with journalists where he was recalling the arrests made by the command s=during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Commissioner said that the father of the two girls, Igwe Samson, a business man based in the city, reported the case to the Kurmi division and the police moved to arrest the accused, according to Pulse NG.
The culprit who confessed to committing the crime amidst heavy sobs blamed the devil for pushing him to commit such an atrocity.
Duwanamu who pleaded for leniency claimed to be a widower adding that it was his very first time of committing such an abominable act against minors.
“I lost my wife almost 10 years ago and my first daughter is 34-years-old. This is a mistake and I think it is the work of the devil. This is the first time in my life that I would do such a thing and I wish it never happened,” he said.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing after which the culprit would be charged to court.
