A 33-year-old man identified as Okwuome Henry has been arrested by the police n Lagos State for allegedly raping his neighbour’s 8-year-old daughter in the Idimu area of Lagos State.
Henry was said to have invited the victim to his apartment at Abio Frank street in the guise that he wanted to send her on an errand.
On arriving his apartment, the suspect raped the victim and warned her not to disclose what transpired between them to anybody.
The mother of the victim discovered blood stains on her daughter’s cloth while washing it on the fateful night.
The victim whose identity was not disclosed was said to have finally opened up and narrated the encounter she had with the suspect.
Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a neighbour, said “At first, no one believed the girl because of the closeness between Henry and her parents.
“But on closer observation, it was discovered that her private part was still blood stained. We were all shocked because our female children run errands for him.”
Henry was charged to court on Friday, April 1, 2016 but was granted a N250,000 bail after pleading not guilty to the charges pressed against him.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J.O.E Adeyemi adjourned the case until Monday, April 25, 2016.
