Boko Haram insurgents who on Saturday, January 31, 2015 entered Bama (Borno’s second largest city), Ngom, Alou, Delwa and Mafa areas in North Eastern Nigeria are currently counting their loses as Nigerian military forces successfully contained the presence of the insurgents.
According to the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, who spoke via a press statement dated Sunday, February 1, 2015, mop up operation is still ongoing as the two armoured vehicles and two artillery guns as well as 17 Hilux vehicles have so far been recovered from the terrorists.
General Olukolade further revealed that Nigerian troops, together with allied forced form the Multi Nation Joint Task Force (MNJTF) are in pursuit of some of the fleeing terrorists as the affected locations are being secured and wounded soldiers treated.
In a related development the MNJTF have also successfully quelled the terror attack on Borno State’s capital city, Maiduguri, by Boko Haram insurgents which began in the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2015 with the extremists incurring massive casualty.
The people of Maidiguri jubilated over the victory of the Nigerian troops and welcomed them with great cheers. Here are photos below:
