Ukamaka Ejezie aka Mama Biafra, a supporter of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has been released from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.
IPOB’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, confirmed this in a series of tweets.
The 80-year-old woman was reportedly arrested during a court appearance of IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court, Abuja on May 18.
“I am very delighted to inform you all that Mrs Ukamaka Ejezie (Mama Biafra) has regained her freedom.
“She is now out of the DSS dungeon,” Ejiofor wrote.
He added that they were not relenting in their bid to ensure “every prisoner of conscience” is released including Kanu.
According to him, “We in the legal team, are doing everything legally permissible to make it happen, we are not resting on our oars at all, be assured.”
