A male contestant on the South African version of Big Brother, Siyanda Ngwenya has been expelled from the show over allegations that he raped a female housemate.
Ngwenya, better known as Adams, was alleged to have raped the female contestant (name withheld) while she was sleeping after a night of drunk partying in the Johannesburg house.
Ngwenya was said to have boasted to housemates the next day that they had had sex after they were last seen on TV kissing and cuddling before the cameras moved away. The alleged victim was reportedly shocked at the claims and told female contestants that she did not consent to having sex.
In a statement, Mzansi Magic, the channel which airs the show said: “At this stage, it is not exactly clear what transpired between (the woman) and Adams. Having suspected that there may have been an incident of sexual misconduct, Mzansi Magic acted by removing both individuals from the house.”
Although contestants have been barred from speaking to the media, some fans of the show are questioning the sincerity in the woman’s claims.
@LoazG tweeted: ‘Okay, where are these rape allegations coming from now peeps, the misconduct by Adams was not revealed, so where is ths coming from?’
