LISBON, Portugal – Pop icon Madonna, 64, has put her highly anticipated “The Celebration Tour” on hold as she recovers from a “serious bacterial infection,” her manager Guy Oseary announced on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 via Instagram.
Madonna, often hailed as the “Queen of Pop,” was hospitalized following the sudden onset of the infection last Saturday. She spent several days in the intensive care unit. While she is expected to make a full recovery, she remains under medical supervision.
“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” Oseary said in his statement. “We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
As of now, specifics regarding Madonna’s diagnosis have not been made public, and it is uncertain whether she was still in the ICU as of Wednesday.
