DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The world joins hands this month to honour the indelible legacy of Nelson Mandela, the iconic anti-apartheid revolutionary and South Africa’s first black president.
The annual Nelson Mandela Month, culminating on July 18th, reverberates his impassioned call for justice, equality, and human rights, and urges individuals and organizations to dedicate 67 minutes in service of others, symbolizing the 67 years Mandela committed to public service.
As torchbearers of Mandela’s ethos, the Black Impact Foundation (BIF) has made a clarion call for global unity and transformation.
Spearheaded by Clarence Seedorf, who was anointed a Legacy Champion by Mandela in 2009, BIF has curated the Global Black Impact Summit (GBIS), a groundbreaking event championing black excellence and fostering positive change.
Slated for November 30th and December 1st, 2023, in Dubai, GBIS offers an engaging platform for networking, learning, and collaboration, connecting the global Black community with the mission of bolstering inclusivity, equality, education, and entrepreneurship.
The highlight of the Mandela Month is the “67 Minutes for Madiba on Nelson Mandela Day”.
The emphasis on dedicating 67 minutes mirrors Mandela’s resilient crusade for social justice and reflects the ideals he embodied — forgiveness, reconciliation, and the indomitable belief that every individual wields the power to alter the trajectory of the world.
BIF, through its array of initiatives, seeks to illuminate the path Mandela forged. By galvanizing people under the shared purpose of fostering reconciliation and social justice, BIF aims to bolster efforts towards achieving transformative change.
“Nelson Mandela’s indomitable spirit continues to be an eternal flame guiding our actions,” said BIF’s Chairman Clarence Seedorf. “It’s a natural synergy for BIF to celebrate Mandela Month, as our very foundation is built on the ideals and objectives that Mandela personified. We aim to be catalysts for positive change and call upon the global community to stand united in this pursuit.”
Education, a cornerstone of both GBIS and Mandela Month, is emphasized as an instrumental tool in unlocking doors and empowering individuals.
Both initiatives aim to lay the groundwork for a more inclusive and equitable world by enhancing educational access and quality.
As the world reflects on the indomitable legacy of Nelson Mandela, the call to action is clear. The Black Impact Foundation invites individuals and organizations to join forces in elevating Black voices, and to support BIF and GBIS in their endeavors.
