LOS ANGELES, USA – Two years after announcing their separation, Lisa Bonet, 56, and Jason Momoa, 44, are officially seeking divorce.
Bonet filed for dissolution of marriage on January 5, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences, as reported by TODAY.com.
The documents revealed their separation date as October 7, 2020.
The couple, who tied the knot on October 7, 2017, had been together for over a decade and share two children: 16-year-old Lola and 15-year-old Nakoa-Wolf.
Bonet, known for her role in “A Different World”, is also a mother to actress Zoë Kravitz, whom she shares with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.
In her filing, Bonet requested joint legal and physical custody of the children with Momoa. Interestingly, she did not seek spousal support.
The documents also indicate that the distribution of assets and property between the couple has been mutually agreed upon.
The initial announcement of their separation was made through a joint statement on Momoa’s Instagram page in 2020, which has since been deleted.
In the statement, the couple acknowledged the transformative times and their family’s evolution through these changes, emphasising their commitment to handling the process with dignity and honesty.
In the intervening years, both Bonet and Momoa have remained largely private about their relationship. However, in March 2022, Momoa briefly commented on Bonet when he attended the premiere of “The Batman” to support Zoë Kravitz.
Accompanied by their children, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf, Momoa expressed his pride in the family, stating to “Entertainment Tonight”, “Lisa couldn’t be here so we’re representing, me and the babies. We’re very excited to just be here. … It’s still family, you know?”
The divorce filing marks the closure of a chapter for Bonet and Momoa, who have been significant figures in each other’s lives for over a decade.
