The death toll from Monday’s early morning collapse of a five-storey building at Ikate, Lekki area of Lagos, has increased to 24 owing to the addition of six more recovered bodies.
As at Tuesday night, the total official figure of casualties and survivors had stood at 18 and 13 respectively.
But with the rescue operations still on, emergency responders had recovered six more bodies, even as the figure for survivors still stood at 13.
Confirming the incident, the South-west Zonal Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said the additional six corpses were recovered between 7am and 12.30pm.
