A Cross River state House of Assembly member, Godwin Akwaji died on Thursday, June 18 after showing COVID-19 symptoms.
The lawmaker representing Obudu constituency passed away at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) isolation centre at about 12:30pm.
Cross River is the only state in Nigeria that does not have any confirmed case of coronavirus after five test samples returned negative.
According to reports, Akwaji was diabetic and also exhibited fatigue, fever, cough and breathlessness. prior to his death. He was being treated for malaria and pneumonia with no improvement.
