Abba Risqua, the son of late Nigerian head of state, Murtala Mohammed on Friday, October 10, 2014 declared his ambition to run for the office of the governor of Kano state in the 2015 elections, Thisday reports.
Risqua who spoke to newsmen while inaugurating his campaign office in Kano said he would be vying for the position as a flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that he made the decision after carrying out extensive consultations around the state.
Risqua said: “I, Abba Risqua Murtala Muhammed, on this day, Friday, the 10th of October, 2014, hereby declare my intention to seek the highest political office in Kano State as Governor (on) the platform of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“My resolve to contest the governorship seat resulted after several months of state-wide consultations, from family members, friends and several thousands of members of our party who are convinced about my capacity to lead the state”
He therefore urged all party members, stakeholders and Kano indigenes to support him in achieving the desired targets.
