Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of of Lagos State, says his administration will not condone any act of indiscipline.
Speaking when he visited the head office of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, in Oshodi on Friday, June 14, 2019, Sanwo-Olu charged the agency to deal with traffic violators.
He said even if it is his brother who is on the wrong side of the law, he should not be spared.
“If anyone breaks the law and he says he is a brother to the governor, tell him to call the governor to pay for the offence,” he said.
He told the traffic officials not to listen to anyone from his cabinet who might want to use his position to get someone arrested off the hook.
Sanwo-Olu also warned LASTMA officials to shun corruption and also show respect while on duty.
“Lagosians expect a corrupt-free LASTMA that will not be collecting bribes. Be respectful and courteous even when you are going to arrest an offender,” he said.
“Lagosians want LASTMA that is decent, they want neatness. We don’t want laziness and lateness to work. Be my advocates.”
He also announced the increment in the monthly allowance of the state traffic officials, LASTMA.
Sanwo-Olu, NAN gathered has increased the allowances of all officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA by 100 percent.
According to a statement by the governor’s deputy chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile, LASTMA officers will now get 100 percent of what they currently earn. This will take effect from the end of July.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu today announced an increase in LASTMA officers’ allowance. LASTMA officers to earn 100% of their current allowance from the end of July. This is to boost the morale of officers and make them work well for the people of Lagos State,” Akosile tweeted.

The governor made the announcement when he visited the headquarters of LASTMA where he met with officers of the organisation.
It would be recalled that a focus on Traffic Management and Transportation is the first of Sanwo-Olu’s campaign agenda which was named ‘THEME’.
